Multiple modes for submitting transactions

Availity provides a variety of modes for submitting your transactions. You can choose to always submit your transactions through a single mode, such as through SFTP, or you can submit some transactions through one mode and other transactions through a different mode. The following modes are available:
- Submit transactions through manual data entry in Availity Essentials
-
Availity Essentials makes it easy to submit transactions, such as eligibility and benefits inquiries or claims, by entering data into our user-friendly Web forms. When you submit inquiry type transactions such as eligibility and benefits inquiries or claim status inquiries, you'll get easy-to-understand results right away. You'll even get the results of many authorization or referral requests immediately after you submit the request.
Check out Multiple modes for submitting transactions for an introduction to manually submitting HIPAA transactions from Availity Essentials.
- Submit transaction files through FTP

If you work with a practice management system, health information system, or other automated system that supports an EDI connection, you can securely upload batch files of X12 EDI transactions to the Availity EDI site where they are automatically picked up by Availity and submitted to the appropriate health plans. And Availity supports the native ACS X12 data format already used within your systems.

If you have batch files of X12 EDI transactions that you need to process and you don't have access to an EDI connection, you can manually upload the batch files through Availity Essentials. And Availity supports the native ACS X12 data format already used within your systems. All you need is an Availity Essentials account.
- Submit transactions through SOAP
-
Availity supports real-time (B2B) transaction processing through SOAP-based APIs that provide an XML wrapper for your ASC X12 transaction data. Real-time processing means that we begin communicating with the health plan as soon as we receive your request. To get set up for real-time transaction processing, you'll need to contact Availity Client Services at 800-282-4548 (800-AVAILITY).
- Submit transactions through the Availity REST API
-
Availity provides a REST API for real-time (B2B) transaction processing. Real-time processing means that we begin communicating with the health plan as soon as we receive your request. The Availity REST API, which supports both JSON and XML, provides easy-to-use RESTful resources so you don't need a strong background in ASC X12 EDI transactions to get started.
